At this time, all ECS facilities are planning to open tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10, 2024. All Head Start facilities will open one hour late.

7 p.m. 01/09/24

ECS is aware of severe inclement weather that may impact several of our counties.

At this time:

  • All ECS Head Start/Early Head Start locations in Duval County as well as The Learning Center at Good Shepherd will be closed Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
  • Staff located at ECS Headquarters, 8649 Baypine Road should work remotely.
  • Staff located at the administrative building at Skylark should work remotely.
  • Baker County, Bradford County, Clay County, Dixie County, Gilcrest County, Levy County, Marion County, and Nassau County centers will also be closed on Tuesday, January 9.
  • Citrus County centers will close early at 11 a.m.
  • St. Johns County schools are operating on early release schedules.
  • Alachua County centers will be closed.
  • Lake County centers will close early at 11 a.m.

We are currently monitoring Tropical Storm Idalia, forecasted to become a hurricane later today. This storm may affect our service area later this week. Currently there are no changes to ECS operations.

TROPICAL STORM NICOLE

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 – 2 p.m.

At this time, all ECS Head Start/Early Head Start locations, One Stops, and Administrative buildings in Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Citrus, Duval, Clay, Gilchrist, Lake, Nassau, Marion, St John’s, and Putnam counties will be closed Thursday, November 10.

Please note that both Skylark Administrative building in Marion County and the Central Headquarters in Duval County will be closed on November 10.

All ECS locations are closed on Friday, November 11 in recognition of Veterans Day.

 

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 – 10 a.m.

ECS facility closure decisions are guided by the school districts in each county. At this time, all ECS Head Start/Early Head Start locations, One Stops, and Administrative buildings in Alachua County, Clay County, Lake County, Marion County, St John’s County, and Putnam County will be closed Thursday, November 10. TS Ian formed in the Caribbean over the weekend. It is expected to become a hurricane later today or tonight. Ian is expected to be a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico during the middle of the week. Presently, the models show the possibility of our service areas being impacted late in the week.
