Chester W. Spellman was appointed by the White House to serve as the Director of AmeriCorps State and National at the Corporation for National and Community Service (d/b/a AmeriCorps) on August 1, 2017. During his three-and-a-half- year tenure Spellman provided mission-centric leadership focused on national impact and program improvement.

Prior to joining AmeriCorps, Spellman served as the Chief Executive Officer of Volunteer Florida, the Florida Commission on Community Service, for over five years. He currently serves as the President of CW Spellman Consulting. Spellman has over twenty years of experience serving in and with the nonprofit sector and ten years of senior leadership experience in the public sector.

Spellman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in pastoral ministries from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, and a Master of Arts in organizational leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was recognized as the 2016 Young Floridian of the Year by the Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida.

Spellman and his wife, Amanda, reside in Jacksonville, Florida, with their four children.
