On Friday, October 11, VP of Head Start/Early Head Start, Autumn Tomas and the Central FL/Lake Policy Council Chair, Sharlene Singleton were honored at the Florida Head Start Annual Awards Luncheon in Daytona Beach.
Autumn Tomas has been selected by the Florida Head Start Association to represent our state at the National Level as the nominee for the National Head Start Association Vanessa Rich Leadership Award. This award celebrates the memory of Vanessa Rich and is intended for a new Head Start/Early Head Start Director (3 years or less) who is carrying on Vanessa’s legacy of “Head Start doesn’t stop on the front porch, it comes all the way into the house.”
Sharlene Singleton won the Beating the Odds Award. This Florida Head Start Association award recognizes a Head Start/Early Head Start parent who has overcome significant challenges on the journey to self- sufficiency.
