Helping Families Ensure Their Children Enter School Ready to Learn

Events News Volunteer

We are Episcopal Children’s Services.

Episcopal Children’s Services is a recognized leader in early childhood education, serving more than 50,000 children and their families in 14 counties in Northeast and Central Florida – Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam, St John’s, Alachua, Marion, Lake, Citrus, Gilchrist, Dixie, and Levy. Established in 1966, and celebrating our 50-year anniversary in 2016, Episcopal Children’s Services was named the “Third Largest Nonprofit in Northeast Florida” by the Jacksonville Business Journal.

We are a nonprofit organization that uses research and best practices to help families ensure their children enter school ready to learn. Our talented, dedicated teachers and staff proactively work with underserved children, from birth to age 5, and their families to build a strong educational foundation. It is a “whole” child approach – helping kids grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Research shows that 90% of cognitive development occurs before the age of 5. We believe that educating a child improves their future success and strengthens the entire community!

Because of Episcopal Children’s Services history of strong financial management and related infrastructure, 100% of your monetary donations go directly to provide programs and social and emotional help for the children and families we serve. Any amount you can share will be greatly appreciated and put to good use right here at home in Duval and the surrounding counties.

All donations are 100% tax deductible!

How Do I Apply for VPK or School Readiness Services?

Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) and School Readiness services (also known as subsidized child care) are programs available in Clay, Nassau, Baker, Bradford, Putnam, and St. Johns Counties through Episcopal Children’s Services. However, families must qualify, and there is often a waitlist, so it is important that you apply as soon as possible.

All registration is done entirely online.

No computer, scanner, and/or smartphone?
Call our Central Office (Jacksonville) at 904-726-1500, and ask for the VPK or School Readiness department to schedule an appointment.
