From Home-Based Learning to In-Person Growth: The Clark/Johnson Family’s ECS4Kids Journey

The Clark/Johnson family began their journey with ECS4Kids during the 2023–2024 school year in the Home-Based Program. From the start, Elyshia and Brandon showed a strong commitment to their son Benayah’s growth and development. Their teamwork as co-parents has been an inspiration to everyone who has worked with them.

In November 2024, Benayah transitioned from home-based services to our Northside center-based program. This move marked an exciting new chapter for the family, giving Benayah the opportunity to learn and grow in a classroom setting with peers while continuing to receive the support and resources ECS4Kids provides.

Like many families, they faced challenges along the way. During a difficult period, ECS stepped in to provide guidance and connect the family with community resources. With persistence and support, Brandon was able to secure new employment—a major step toward stability and progress for the family.

Through ECS4Kids resources, the family gained access to high-quality early childhood education, nutrition guidance, and transportation assistance to ensure consistent attendance. These supports helped Benayah thrive and gave the family tools to make healthy choices for his development.

Behind their success was a dedicated ECS team, including Family Advocates Jantzen Henry and Shalanda Moore, Center Manager Shakekee Bryant, and Home Visitor Sheena Wade. They worked together to ensure the family had what they needed to succeed.

Today, Elyshia and Brandon continue setting goals for long-term stability and well-being. Their story is a powerful example of what families and programs can achieve together—overcoming obstacles and building brighter futures for children.
