Breaking Barriers: Yolanda’s Journey with ECS4Kids

For Yolanda, a single mother of six, the path to stability has been anything but easy. But with resilience, determination, and the support of ECS4Kids’ Eustis Head Start, she’s been steadily building a brighter future for her family—one milestone at a time.

Her youngest son, 2-year-old John, is enrolled in Eustis Head Start, where he’s thriving and laying the foundation for lifelong learning. Yolanda has been actively engaged with the program for several years, always prioritizing her children’s education and well-being—even while working multiple jobs to make ends meet.

With guidance from Family Advocates Carlee and LaVera, Yolanda set a bold long-term goal: to purchase her own home. Together, they broke that dream into manageable steps—budgeting, saving, and improving her credit. Slowly but surely, Yolanda began to see progress.

Throughout her journey, Yolanda has never wavered in her commitment to her children. She found creative solutions to setbacks and made daily sacrifices to ensure John received the care he needed.

Today, John is meeting all his developmental milestones and looks forward to school each day. Yolanda recently began a new job and continues working with the ECS4Kids team to build her credit and pursue her dream of homeownership.

“I am thankful for the support that Head Start has provided for my family, as I’ve worked towards my goals.”
