On Thursday, January 6, the Early Learning Coalition of North Florida recognized Episcopal Children’s Services teacher Marisol Buitrago as their teacher of the year. Ms. Marisol is a Head Start teacher at the Green Cove Springs center and was surprised and overjoyed by the announcement. The center’s staff, children, Ms. Marisol’s family and ELC representatives surprised her with a small event, giving her balloons, flowers and a certificate. A $500 cash prize was also awarded thanks to sponsors Kaplan Early Learning and Clay Electric Foundation. Ms. Marisol will also be recognized at the Early Educators Conference later in the month for her accomplishments. Special thanks to the center staff at Green Cove Springs including Family Advocate Lisette Fiannaca and Early Learning Coalition of North Florida Coordinator Joan Whitson.
